I had contacted the City of Santa Clarita about three weeks ago about potentially being a vendor. I was pretty bummed when I got an e-mail back saying they were already booked, so my best bet was to shoot for next year. I asked Russell, the coordinator, to keep me on the list in case anyone backed out. What do you know, a week before the event, Russell shot me an e-mail saying some vendors bailed and I was all over it! I told him to pencil me in and my girlfriend Melissa and I quickly went to work on an event game plan. The truth is, I wasn't expecting to get much from this event except getting some good face time with the public. Little did I know, the event would be a pretty good success!
I contacted the local printing company Feathers about doing some last minute banner, business card and t-shirt work. They got on it quick and finished what I needed before weeks end, and at a pretty good price too. When it came time Saturday morning, Melissa and I walked my work wagon (the big wagon I carry around for 2B FIT camp full of kettle bells, ropes, trx's and med balls) all loaded up with BPT t-shirts, Body Basics DVDs, a Newsletter Sign Up sheet, a BPT banner and my body fat calipers across the street to the Hyatt Valencia. When we got there they directed us to the PRIME booth location right in front of the race registration table and t-shirt pick up. Once the clock struck 9 o'clock, it was BPT mode for what seemed like the next six hours straight before things slowed down! Melissa and my good friend and fellow trainer Brandon Reina helped me tremendously by assisting with body fat (Brandon), grabbing people and giving them the DVD pitch (Melissa) and I just kinda bounced from one conversation to the next about body fat, training practices, my business and the DVD.
By the end of the day, I had sold more DVDs than I've sold in the last two months on-line, I picked up a couple new people for assessments and my BPT Newsletter list grew by 30 people! One of the funniest things that happened was one woman recognized me from NBCLA's Wake Up Workout segment which I was on for about 8 months. That was kind of crazy to me. She walks by my booth and says "Channel 4? Aren't you that trainer I've seen with Chris Schauble?" HAHA! Overall I had an absolute blast just interacting with people interested in their health and fitness, giving some advice and offering my services to the people that stopped by the booth.
I want to thank all of those who stopped by the BPT booth for your interest in my work as a professional. I want to thank from the bottom of my heart my girlfriend Melissa for coming out and being a GREAT partner in this event, my buddy Brandon for showing up and offering up your knowledge and skills to people with questions (if 24 Hour Fitness reads this don't worry he was just helping out his buddy, so calllllllllllllllm down), Kristi, Kevin and my parents for stopping by and showing their support for my business. I have to thank Tab for helping me with my logo, graphics and the awesome website you've built so I can share my brand with the world. Last but not least, I want to thank Feathers for kicking ass on my t-shirts, banner and business cards, and Russell from the City of Santa Clarita for giving me this great opportunity.
See you all at the top!
