Quick & Healthy Snacks

Getting a quick and nutritious snack is easier than one may think. Since I get a lot of questions regarding this subject, I figured I'd leave you all with a short, sweet list of my favorites. You will notice for the most part the carbohydrates are paired with fat. Fat helps blunt insulin spikes brought on by carbohydrate consumption. By keeping the insulin response lower, your body will get the fuel it needs without sacrificing it's natural fat burning capabilities!

Met-Rx Protein Plus Shake + 1/4 cup unsalted, organic peanuts

Banana + 1/4 cup Almonds

CLIF Bar + handful of unsalted, organic peanuts

2 tablespoons of organic peanut butter + 1 red apple

CLIF bars do have high glycemic carbs which is why I always pair them with peanuts or almonds. That helps blunt the insulin response. I prefer to use the CLIF bars for a snack when I am moving a lot or pre-workout, times when I really need the energy to GO.
