The sugar and carbohydrate content really shouldn't be too much of a concern if you fill the rest of your day with proper carbohydrate choices (fruits, veggies, sweet potatoes, brown rice). Carbbing up early in the morning is ok to help you get up and start your day with ample amounts of immediate energy. Remember that glucose (carbohydrate broken down into its simplest form) is the preferred and main source of energy for the brain and central nervous system. The carbohydrates and fiber you get from the whole grains in this cereal are pretty good for you, but of course can be found in other food selections. Just as I stated in my blog yesterday, you have to keep a little sanity in your diet routine to keep you on track. I would say this cereal is a great substitute for most cereals you find on the shelves and I think it taste better than Raisin Bran and Smart Start. The Wheaties don't taste good like one might consider Apple Jacks or Captain Crunch to be appetizing, but they have enough flavor to make you feel like you're not eating cardboard. I give a thumbs up for Wheaties: Fuel as a decent breakfast source for those trying to make better food choices.

Still can't beat old-fashioned oatmeal for a great morning meal. Add some cinnamon, almonds and raisins and you're set to go. No preservatives, no additives, no fortified anything. Costco sells mega-size boxes of Quaker Oats Old-Fashioned Oatmeal for a fraction of the price you'll pay for processed cereal from Kellogg's, Post and General Mills.
Instead of OJ or some other sugar-laden juice, try a whole, organic orange. All the good natural vitamins, plus a healthy dose of fiber to lower the glycemic level.
Yeah oatmeal really the way to go. I go through waves with breakfast because I will eat something all the time until I get tired of it, then change it up. I typically only eat cereal on the weekends. This Wheaties are a good transition from eating sugar bowls to something with a little more nutritious value. I saw the commercials and figured I'd try it out...not too bad!
Organic OJ is awesome and I love the Trader Joe's brand, it tastes pretty good. I hope everyone out there realizes Sunny-D and a lot of other OJ you get at the store is nothing but pure sugar! Great comment!
Alright... So I bought a box of Wheaties Fuel. It's actually not all that bad. The cereal is a little dense compared to most other cereals I've tried aside from Grape Nuts.
Nothing beats left over pizza in the morning before a workout.
hahaha joking.
