Last Friday I was stuck with little time to work out and really wanted to get some blood pumping. I sat there for a moment and thought about how I could get the most work done in the shortest amount of time. In less than fifteen minutes, I got a pretty great little workout in using the following work out without ANY equipment:
First, I did a Super Burpee Tabata. For those of you who don't know what a Burpee is watch the video below and recall that the Tabata Protocol is when you perform twenty seconds of maximum intensity work, take ten seconds of rest and repeat for eight rounds for a total of four minutes of work. A Super Burpee is when you drop down, perform a push up, pop up and then jump squat. I perfomed a four minute Tabata of Super Burpees and took a three minute rest at the end (I was dying). After the Super Burpee Tabata, I jumped into a variation of the countdown I had made up and wanted to test out. I decided to get a little extra cardio in by performing thirty jumping jacks followed by thirty mountain climbers, and counting down all the way to one. So I would perform thirty jumping jacks, drop down into thirty mountain climbers, take ten seconds of rest and then twenty-nine of each and so forth.
In less than fifteen minutes my legs were shot from the Tabata, my calves were fried from jumping jacks and mountain climbers, my core and even my shoulders were a little tired from the countdown. Give this little routine a whirl when you're short on time and have no equipment!
